A stone’s throw from Duns Castle, this detached, single-storey property is a perfect base from which to explore the Scottish Borders.

Holiday cottage available to let in the small town of Duns in the beautiful Scottish Borders, Famous for our Formula 1 Champion Jim Clark & World Rally Champion Louise Aitken-Walker. The cottage is set in a quiet area next to the Castle Estate woodlands. The Nature reserve of Duns Castle is within walking distance as is the town centre. Duns Castle is a wedding venue, Footballer Robbie Fowler was married there and it is famous as the setting for the film Mrs Brown and other films.

Duns is 15 miles (approx) from the town of Berwick upon Tweed (which has a main line railway station) and 40 miles (approx) from Edinburgh. The local Borders towns of Kelso, Melrose, Jedburgh are steeped in history and well worth a visit. Just over the border you have the attractions of Etal and Ford. There are various activities available locally or further a field.

The cottage is tastefully furnished and decorated to a high standard. The accommodation consists of Front Bedroom with twin beds (these can be made up into a double bed on request), Back Bedroom with twin beds, Lounge with wood burning stove, Fitted Kitchen, bathroom with bath and shower, WC and wash hand basin. Garden to front and rear. Gas Central Heating. TV. Private parking.

It is preferred if you do not smoke in the cottage. Please enquire with regards pets.

LOCAL INFORMATION

WALKING – On your doorstep short walks around the Duns Castle nature reserve. Within 7 miles you can walk a section of the Southern Upland Way.

GOLF – Duns has it’s own 18 hole golf course. There are also courses at Coldstream, Kelso, Gifford an in the Lothian’s.

FISHING – Salmon, Seatrout and Trout fishing is available on the River Tweed. Local rivers, Whiteadder, Blackadder, Dye, Till where permits are available for fishing. There are stocked rainbow and brown trout reservoirs/ponds locally. Sea fishing is available at Eyemouth.

STATELY HOMES – The stately home of Manderston, 1.5 miles away is open to the public and within a short drive you have Paxton House, Floors Castle and Mellerstain.

SWIMMING/TENNIS – Duns has it’s own swimming pool. 3 very good town courts. Dunbar and Berwick upon Tweed have large leisure pools with other facilities. Eyemouth has a very pleasant family swimming pool.

EATING OUT – Duns has a selection of pub food and restaurants in the town centre. Within the local area there are many good restaurants.

THE JIM CLARK MOTORSPORT MUSEUM – A short walk from the cottage is the newly renovated and much expanded Jim Clark Motorsport Museum a unique collection of over 100 trophies and memorabilia.

Kitchen: With breakfast area, electric cooker, microwave, slow cooker, fridge, dishwasher, coffee machine and washing machine.

Bedroom 1: With super kingsize bed and 32″ Freeview TV.

Bedroom 2: With twin beds and 28″ Freeview TV.

Bathroom: With shower over P-shaped bath, and toilet.

The kitchen is well-equipped with a good level of appliances, and outside there is a garden and private parking. Duns Castle Nature Reserve is within walking distance, as is the town centre.
